William R. Allan, 70, passed away peacefully on Monday July 24, 2017 at Conway Manor Rehabilitation Center. He was born on June 2, 1947 in Staten Island, NY to the late William H. and Barbara (Hydo) Allan.
Bill is survived by his wife of 45 years, Loretta Allan of Conway, SC; his children, William R. Allan, Jr. and wife Holly of Exeter, RI, Diane Allan and fiance Noah Yunker of Greenwood Lake, NY; grandchildren, Hadley, Sydney, and Lucas; his brother, Michael Allan and Carmen Nieves of Binghampton, NY; his uncle Frank Engert and aunt Cathy of Aurora, CO; brother-in-law Ray Ormachea and wife, Madeline of Shelby Township, MI; and many loved nieces and nephews.
Bill was born and raised in the Tottenville section of Staten Island and graduated from Tottenville High School in 1965. Bill worked as a store manager for several retail chains including Korvettes, Caldor, K-Mart, and Genovese Drug Stores where he was respected and beloved for his kindness, geniality, and dedication before retiring in 2002. Following retirement, Bill relocated to East Stroudsburg, PA in 2003 and Conway, SC in 2015.
In his free time, Bill was passionate about cars, racing from 1966-1974 and restoring two antique cars. He also coached for the South Shore Babe Ruth League in the late 60's and early 70's. He was very handy around the home, loved gardening, fishing, and walks on the beach at Myrtle Beach State Park.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, 7447 Amboy Rd, Staten Island, NY 10307, on Friday August 4, 2017 at 7:00 PM and Saturday August 5, 2017 at 2:00 PM.
