Jacob H. Schmidt, 82, took a knee on May 12, 2018 at his home in Myrtle Beach, with his loving family by his side. He was born on February 3, 1936 in Coatesville, Pennsylvania to the late Paul & Ida Schmidt.
Having proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp., Jacob was a Korean War Veteran. Following his honorable discharge, Jacob went on to retire from the steel mill of Honey Brook, Pennsylvania. Upon relocating to Myrtle Beach with the love of his life, Jacob came to love the simpler things in life. He enjoyed watching football, baseball and NASCAR. Above all else, Jacob loved his family.
Left to cherish Jacob’s memory is his beloved wife, Martha A. Schmidt, of Myrtle Beach; his sons, Paul Schmidt (Joan) of Lancaster, PA & Charles Schmidt (Rebecca) of Myrtle Beach; his step-daughters, Beth Hanson (Donald) of Conway, SC & Lorrie Johnson of Sadsburyville, PA; his step-son, William Mattson of Myrtle Beach; his sister, Elise Graham of Fort Meyers, FL; as well as ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a large, loving extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
A Celebration of Jacob’s life will be held at the convenience of the family.
