Charles Strickland of Surfside Beach, SC formally of Atkinson, NH entered into eternal rest on March 1, 2026. Charles was born in Tabor City, NC to the late Reverend Vernon McLeod and Agnes Strickland. At the young age of 17, Chuck joined the US Navy and ended up stationed in Charlestown, MA. It was in New England that he began his career and started a family. 30 years later, he retired and moved back to his southern roots in South Carolina. Chuck was most proud of his family and would talk about them to anyone who would listen.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara (DiBurro). Along with his wife he is survived by his own “Charlie’s Angels” as he referred to his three daughters, Patty Ranzo, Bonnie Antkowiak and Heather Reno. Son-in-law, Matt Reno; grandchildren Jillian and David Westerfield, Jena and Noah Whitlock, Molly Antlowiak, Emma Antkowiak and Mia Reno. Great-grandchildren, Gianna and Brooks Westerfield and Emry Whitlock. In-laws, Maureen and Richard Marino, and Joseph and Sheila DiBurro; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
Chuck was preceded by his father and mother-in-law Joseph and Anne DiBurro, sons-in-law, Rick Ranzo and Eric Antkowiak as well as his siblings Glenda Gasque, Sylvia Beckham, Frances Ward and Larry Strickland.
The family would like to thank the staff at NHC Healthcare Garden City for the care they gave and the kindness they showed to the family and a special thank you to Keywanda Johnson.
A Funeral Service in celebration of Chuck’s life will be held on Thursday March 5, 2026 at 11am at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. The family will gather to greet friends from 10am until the time of service. Procession to Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery for entombment within the mausoleum, will immediately follow.
