Diana Waters Evatt, 79, died peacefully with her loving daughters by her side on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at her home in Surfside Beach, SC. She was born November 15, 1946 in Greenville, South Carolina to the late Claud Lewis Waters and Lydia Margaret Wiggins Waters. Along with her parents, she is reunited in death with her beloved husband, George Dewey Evatt, Jr. and her brother, Robert Eugene Waters, Sr.
Diana was a graduate of Greenwood High School Class of 1965 and Lander College Class of 1969. Diana was a school teacher in Ware Shoals and Clinton, South Carolina. She, along with her husband owned and operated Rent-A-Row Gardens and Greenhouses in Clinton, South Carolina, where she was jokingly known as the "plant manager". Diana was a member of Broad Street UMC in Clinton-where she sang in the choir. She was a proud leader and board member of the Clinton Camp Fire Girls, served as Treasurer and member of the Clinton Kiwanis and performed with the Laurens County Community Theater.
Diana loved golf cart rides to the beach with friends and especially her niece, Lisa Carrouth. She thoroughly enjoyed laughing (sometimes to tears) with her beloved Ladies Lunch Group and Wacky Widows. She delighted in being part of the local quilt guild and making exquisite award-winning quilts. Diana was well loved especially in her neighborhood and also in the community. She was the epitome of kindness, never meeting anyone she couldn't befriend. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her spunkiness, quick wit, compassion, and the love she had for her family and friends. She had been known to say "If you have touched one life, then your's is worthwhile" - that she did exponentially.
Left to cherish Diana's memory are her adoring daughters, Margie Evatt Hoffman of Myrtle Beach and Rosie Evatt (Zack Brewer) of Simpsonville; granddaughters, Abby Hoffman (Nathan Engel) of Anderson, SC and Victoria Sloan of Philadelphia, PA; as well as a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
A Celebration of Diana’s life will be held on Sunday November 15, 2026 at 11am, on the beach to the right of Surfmaster, 1690 N Waccamaw Dr. Garden City Beach, SC- rain or shine.
