Josephine Licare Obituary

Josephine Licare, 96, of Pawleys Island, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2024, at The Lakes of Litchfield Assisted Living. Born in Port Chester, NY on November 12, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Mauro and Mary Salvatore. After graduating from Port Chester High School, she married the late Dominick "Mags" Licare on July 27, 1947. 

Jo was known for her cooking and baking for large family gatherings during the holidays. They enjoyed traveling and spending time at their lake house in the Berkshires. Starting in 1989, they split their time between Port Chester and West Palm Beach. Shortly after Mags' passing on March 10, 2016, she moved to Pawleys Island, SC.

Survivors include her sons, Peter (Debbie) Licare of Pawleys Island, SC and Stephen (Randi) Licare of Ridgefield, CT. Also surviving are her grandchildren Andrew (Carolina), Laura (Jesse), Nicholas, Kristina (Chris) and step grandchilden Eric (Ali), Scott and her great-grandchildren Dominick, Trey and Maggie. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and many friends.

In addition to her husband, she was pre-deceased by her sister Mary Bologna and her brothers Sam Salvatore and Louis Salvatore.

After cremation, Jo and Mags will be together at the Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, NY.
