Ira A. Slotchin



Ira A. Slotchin, 94, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side at his home in Myrtle Beach on November 17, 2017. He was born on February 20, 1923 in New York, New York to the late Charles and Annette Fristier Slotchin.

Along with his parents, Ira is preceded in passing by his beloved wife of 48 years, Bunny Slotchin; his son, Alain Slotchin; his brother, Philip Slotchin and his sister, Anna Slotchin.
Ira proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II, within the European Theater where he received a Purple Heart, and retired after 30 years of service with the rank of Major. Following his honorable discharge, Ira went on to work as a Marketing Executive for Union Carbide and later after retirement Ira went to work with SCORE.. In his free time, Ira loved to golf and spend time with friends and family.

Left to cherish Ira’s memory is his daughter, Judy L. DeRose of Myrtle Beach; his granddaughters, Michele DeRose and her husband Marcel Winner of Alexandria, Virginia & Heather Luce and her husband Randall of The Colony, Texas; his grandson, Laurent Slotchin of France; five great-grandchildren; great-nieces & great-nephews; and his dear friends, Curtis & Donna Baker of Myrtle Beach.

A Celebration of Ira’s Life will be held on Saturday November 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC. The family will greet friends at 10:00 AM until the time of service.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ira’s name be made to American Cancer Society Reach to Recovery Program, 950 48th Ave N #101, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
