Sterling Goldsberry



Sterling M. Goldsberry, 75, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 08, 2018 with his loving wife Jan by his side.

Born in Ridgeview, WV, Sterling was the son of the late Cyril Goldsberry and Nancy Smith. He was a member of the Myrtle Beach Christian Church and attended Myrtle Beach Church of God in Murrells Inlet with his wife. Sterling was a proud 24 year US Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He worked for 16 years as a Federal Police Officer in Ohio and was a lifetime member of the VFW and a current member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Sterling was known among his family and friends as a great man with a great wit, great sense of humor and a big generous heart who enjoyed playing golf and riding motorcycles.

In addition to his mother, Sterling is predeceased by his brothers, C. Edward Charogoff and Burl Frederick Goldsberry and his sister Enola Bell Norman.

He is survived by his precious and loving wife of 12 1/2 years, Jan Chesser Goldsberry; children, Karl (Jean) Goldsberry, PA; Keith Goldsberry, Columbus, OH; Becky (Dave) Valenica, PA; Pam (Chronis) Papadakis, Barberton, OH; Steve (Beth) Chesser, Powell, OH; Mike (Tabitha) Chesser, Pickerington, OH; brother, Harold Charogoff, MI; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, special caregiver, Patricia Clisham, close friends, Tony and Dora Dunlap, Maloy and Patsy Shumate, Ronnie and Loise Boykin, and Danny Banks and many friends at Myrtle Beach Christian Church.

A Celebration of Sterling's life will be held on Saturday February 17, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Sterling’s name to Myrtle Beach Christian Church, 1226 Burcale Rd, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579 or to Amedisys Hopsice, 391 Seaboard St #6, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
