I have been having a hard time finding the words to express my feelings about Eileen. It’s as if no words can adequately describe what a wonderful friend and person she was. She was so positive about her disease and hopes for remission. She had planned to come up to Maryland and John’s Hopkins Hospital to have a lynph node transplant the third week of July. She had to cancel, when her liver counts went back up. She was hopeful about a new medication she had received, but went downhill and passed very shortly after. I was so upset that I could not make it down to SC in time to see her before that.
I met Eileen about 20 years ago, when we both belonged to a singles golf group. We became fast friends and found out that we lived only a few blocks from each other in Columbia, MD. We were golf buddies, did line dancing, and went out to many lunches/dinners. We both liked wine. We had many talks about politics and other issues. We celebrated birthdays and other holidays. Eileen was a great cook and loved trying out new recipes.
When Eileen moved to Northern Virginia, we didn’t see each other as often. However, we did get together for golf occasionally and at least talked to each other weekly on the phone. Of course, when she moved to South Carolina, it was much more difficult to get together. Usually she would come up here once a year, and I would go down to SC once a year. I really missed not seeing her as often and missed my best golfing buddy. However, I knew she was happy in South Carolina and was excited, when she met her good friend and companion, Ken.
I am missing Eileen very much. I loved her as a friend and person. Her dedication to cats and animals is well noted. She spent much time volunteering at numerous shelters. We both had two cats, and commiserated about losing our previous ones. I was amazed about how she kept in touch with her friends from the past. She loved animals and people. I hope we will meet again in the afterlife, and I hope that is possible. She was a great addition to my life and I am sure to others as well. I love you and miss you, Eileen.

I had the pleasure of making Eileens acquaintance thru our local ladies luncheon group here in Myrtle Beach. She was always fun to chat and spend time with. She was a kind soul and will be missed dearly. May she rest in eternal peace and comfort.

Eileen, I thank you for your elegance and charm, and for your great help with the raffle and your time spent with the cats at the adoption center. You were always so gracious and charming, and always had an easy answer to things I worried about. You kept a beautiful home and your laugh always made me feel better. I am so very sorry that you are gone but perhaps from above you can keep an eye on all of us to be there to greet us when we arrive.
