Clarence Clement Patterson, Jr.



Clarence Clement Patterson Jr., 81, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Thursday, July 26, 2018. He was born on September 14, 1936 in Maysville, Kentucky to the late Clarence Clement and Virginia Lee Gardiner Patterson.

Clem was a man of Catholic faith and active in the church. He loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends. He enjoyed watching sports, especially his favorite team, the North Carolina State Wolfpack. Clem never met a stranger and many found him to be a mentor through his common sense advice, wit, wisdom, and humor. His generous spirit and calming presence will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing Clem through the years.

Left to honor Clem’s memory are the love of his life and wife of nearly 60 years, Beverly Porter Patterson of Surfside Beach; their children Greg Patterson (Joyclynn) of Raleigh, North Carolina, Shannon Freeman (Allen) of Richmond, Virginia, and Kerry Dew (Chris) of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren Katie Maloney (Ryan), Brett Patterson, Jenna, Kailey and Will Freeman and Jack Dew; great grandson, Michael Maloney; his brothers Joseph and John Patterson (Carolyn); his many nieces and nephews; as well as all of Clem and Bev’s beach friends that shared years and years of great times and memories together.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Michael Catholic Church, Cypress Ave., Garden City, SC with Father Ed Fitzgerald officiating. Inurnment to follow in the church columbarium.
