George Alexander Lesslie, 76, passed away peacefully, with his loving family by his side, at his home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina on Tuesday August 28, 2018. He was born on June 7, 1942 in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late George Smith Lesslie & Martha Canning Lesslie.
George was proud to have served his country in the United States Army as a member of the 11th Armored Calvary and was a Vietnam Veteran. Never known to slow down, George was also honored to be a member of Middletown United Methodist Church in New Jersey, a distinguished Past President of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters in Hudson County, Clan Lesslie, was a member of the 84th Royal Highland Emigrants Bagpipe Band and held the distinction of Vice Chairman of the New Jersey Transit Rail Supervisors Union. George was a Gallant Scotsman and proud of his heritage. He was a meticulous craftsman but no matter how busy George was in his professional life, he always took time to enjoy reading a good book, indulge in great food and his favorite glass of wine.
Left to cherish George’s memory are his beloved wife of 48 years, Lola Catherine Lesslie of Murrells Inlet; their daughters, Melissa (Chris) Natale of Middletown, NJ, Jennifer (Robert Graczyk) Lesslie of Shark River Hills, NJ, & Amanda (Keith) McElhinney of Boalsburg, PA; George’s two sisters, Marilyn (Carolyn Gallagher) Lesslie of Montclair, NJ & Martha (Frank) Pongrac of Forked River, NJ; his adoring grandchildren, Ryan, Emma, George, Taylor, Mya, & Corey; as well as many loving and supportive family, friends and neighbors.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday August 30, 2018 at 2:00 PM at St. Michael Catholic Church, Cypress Ave. Garden, City, SC 29576, with Father Ed Fitzgerald Officiating. Burial will take place following a chapel service within Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, New Jersey, at 2:00PM Tuesday September 04, 2018 where military honors will be accorded.

My name is Joe Dolan I grew up with George, Gradurated Dickinson HS with him 1961. Read the Obituary and remembered the Picture from the Cub Scouts taken in 1953. The Boy on the left is another neighborhood Kid Walter Szczerba. His Sister's might remember us. Our path never crossed after HS. Funny I also live In Middletown (Belford Section) Sorry for your loss.

Losing a loved one is distressing and as comfort is needed from family and friends, it is my hope your family will find comforting the promise at Isaiah 25:8 where we are assured that "death will be swallowed up forever." Our condolences on the passing of George. He was a nice, affable gentleman on the few encounters we had to talk to him. All our best goes out to your family. We will say a prayer for him in church on Sunday.
