Izmira Irma Palomares, 61, was welcomed into the kingdom of the Lord on Monday, August 27, 2018. She was born in Laredo, Texas on May 20, 1957.
Izmira was an incredibly selfless person who gave her heart and soul to her community and especially to those in need. She had the honor of working for Street Reach Program for many years, was an original care provider at Little River Medical Outreach Program, and was proud to be the Marketing Director for an entire region for Wellcare Health Plans; where she assisted the company’s overall growth by putting on baby showers at local clinics, Dr. Offices, and wellness fairs. Izmira consistently volunteered with helping the less fortunate. In her free time, Izmira loved to celebrate her Mexican heritage. She was enthusiastic about showing and educating people about her customs and upbringing.
Izmira will forever be remembered for the amazing mother she was as well as the beacon of hope and strength in her community.
Left to cherish Izmira’s memory are her daughter, Leila El-Assi and her beautiful son, Liam Izmir El-Assi both of Conway, SC; as well as numerous friends, neighbors and grateful co-workers.
A Celebration of Izmira’s life will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 7:00 PM at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 1100 8th Ave. North, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582.

We are going to miss our neighbor. Izmira was a great neighbor! She always had a smile on her face and encouraging words. Such a sweetheart lady. We would talk and laugh together. We looked out for each other and we couldn’t have met a better person as a neighbor. She loved her daughter and her daughter loved her! I thank God for allowing her to become a friend of ours. She’s going to be missed. If there’s anything we can do for you please let us know. We are right across the hallway in front of you. Apt 404. We love you and you and Liam have our deepest sympathy.
