Harriet was a long-time member of another family: the one she worked with at Belk. I would see her from time to time in our new store, and was always glad to catch up with her about other Belk retired employees we both knew. I admired her positive attitude and strong faith, in the face of personal adversity. Her family won't be able to know all of the people whose lives she touched. I'll miss seeing her.

My heart goes out to all of the Hayes family. I lived in the apartments behind Mr. and Mrs. Hayes seven or eight years when they lived in the house on 19th Ave. in Myrtle Beach. I was a 'young bachelorette" at the time, and they kind of looked after me. I saw Mrs. Hayes many times over the years, as she and my mom became friends when my parents moved here, and they went to the same church. She was a good person, and I know she is celebrating in heaven now with Mr. James. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the service, but my prayers will be with you all.
