Michael “Mike” Lawrence Smith, 63, of Murrells Inlet, SC previously of Charleston, SC and Mount Morris, Michigan, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018 at his residence. Mike was born November 28, 1954 in San Antonio, TX to the late William John and Mary Stewart Smith. He was the fourth of seven children.
Mike was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He graduated from Socastee High School in 1973 and from Horry-Georgetown Technical College. He served in the United States Navy.
In addition to his beloved parents, Mike was preceded in death by his cherished sisters, Lou Haseldon and Judy Cooper; as well as his brother, Robert “Bob” Smith, with whom he had a special relationship.
Survivors include his brothers, Bill and Eddie Smith (Angela); his sister, Patty Lowder (Mike) as well as many nieces and nephews that will greatly miss him.
Mike was blessed to have many friends near and far.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00PM Sunday, October 07, 2018 at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Hwy, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mike’s name to the Goodwill in Murrells Inlet, 3655 Old Kings Hwy, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.

Mike and I were very close. Any day working with him was a good day. He was a wonderful man and a very good friend. He will forever be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
