Helene F. Bielewicz, 90, passed away peacefully, with her loving family by her side, on Tuesday October 23, 2018 at Thrive Nursing Home in Murrells Inlet, SC. She was born on September 30, 1928 in Fall River, Massachusetts to the late Leo F Power & Helena B. Hughes Power.

Honey, as Helene was affectionately known as, was an active parishioner of St. Michael Catholic Church in Garden City. She was an avid reader who loved to play the lottery, and go out to eat with her friends. Honey never met a stranger and greeted everyone with a smile.

Honey was a graduate of Ladycliff College in Highland Falls, NY and received a master’s degree from Columbia University in New York City. She went on to become a beloved school teacher for many years and later was a successful residential realtor. She also spent many years in a third career in retail, working in sales for B. Altman & Co. and Macy’s where she put her sense of style and people skills to work. Honey’s bright light touched many lives through her work and in her community. She will be deeply missed by many.

Left to cherish Honey’s memory are her step-children, Susan Wasco and her husband, John P. Wasco of Charlotte, NC, Paul Bielewicz and his wife, Ellen Bielewicz of St. Mary's, MD & Stephen Bielewicz and his wife, Dyan Bielewicz of Alexandria, VA; 11 step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Virginia L. Power, Alice Marie Hales and her husband, Thomas E. Hales & Joan Power, all of New York; her nieces & nephews, Lianne Hales- Dugan, William Power Hales, Carolyn Wilson, Thomas E. Hales, Jr., Terence F. Hales & Allison M. Gheen; 9 great nieces and nephews as well as a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Honey’s life will be held on Friday October 26, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Michael Catholic Church, Cypress Ave. Garden City, SC 29576.
