Chris is originally from Marion, SC. He attended Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service and graduated in 1988 with a degree in Funeral Service. He worked in the funeral industry for 10 years and decided to open up his own funeral home. Burroughs Funeral Home in Murrells Inlet was established on August 1, 2012 and has grown due to the dedicated and compassionate services we provide.
In 1990, Chris married his wife, Tangie and they currently reside in Murrells Inlet with their two four-legged babies, Natty and Harley. They have one daughter, Macy, who also works at the funeral home and a new son-in-law, Jake.
Chris is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in the state of South Carolina and the state of North Carolina. He worked as a Deputy Coroner for Horry County and is currently a Deputy Coroner for Georgetown County. Together, he and his wife, Tangie are the owners and operators of Burroughs Funeral Home, Statewide Cremation Services and Pet Cremation Services of the Grand Strand.
Tangie grew up in Marion, SC. She married her husband, Chris in 1990 and together they own Burroughs Funeral Home and Pet Cremation Services of the Grand Strand.
Tangie attended Horry-Georgetown Technical Community College where she received her degree in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for many years and has been the owner and operator of Pet Cremation Services of the Grand Strand for the past 15 years.
She and Chris live in Murrells Inlet with their two four-legged babies, Natty and Harley. They have one daughter, Macy who also works at the funeral home and a new son-in-law, Jake.
Macy is the daughter of Chris and Tangie Burroughs. She graduated from St. James High School in Murrells Inlet, SC in 2010. After graduation from high school, Macy continued her education at Piedmont Technical College in Greenwood, SC, where she obtained an Associate's Degree in Funeral Service Education and is a licensed Funeral Director in the State of South Carolina. Macy plans to continue the vision her parents have pursued in providing compassionate care in the funeral industry.
She currently lives in Murrells Inlet with her new husband, Jake and their four legged baby girl, Bay. Macy loves to visit with her family and friends, travel and support her favorite sport teams.
Allison "Ally" Marino grew up in Waterbury, Connecticut and graduated from the Waterbury Arts Magnet School in 2007. Shortly thereafter, Ally began attending Lincoln College of New England (formerly Briarwood College,) in pursuit of her dream; helping people within our communities.
Ms. Marino brings several years of funeral service experience, and is young and eager to offer comfort, care and compassion as well as offer new perspectives on helping and aiding today’s generation through grieving processes.
Ally currently lives in Myrtle Beach with her fiancee. Her hobbies include watching movies, reading, visiting the beautiful beaches in the area, cooking, taking long walks and snuggling with her beloved cat, Phoenix.
Ally's goals for the future include; serving our families with the utmost care and respect, as well as obtaining her Certified Funeral Service Practitioner title through the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practices, (this distinction is indicative of the completion of specified academic and professional programs that improve the standards of funeral practice)
Tony comes to us with over 25 years of funeral service experience. He is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in the states of South Carolina and Georgia, a certified CANA (Cremation Association of North America) crematory operator and our firm's Advanced Planning and Pre-Need Director.
A native of Eastman, GA, Tony is a proud graduate of Dodge County High School. He attended Georgia Military College in historic Milledgeville, GA and is a 1995 graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta, GA where he was a member of the Pi Sigma Eta Honors Fraternity.
Tony and his family moved to Murrells Inlet in 2011 from Alpharetta, GA where he worked as (SCI) General Manger for Roswell Funeral Home & Green Lawn Cemetery and Location Manager for SouthCare Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
He is a Master Mason and a member of Roswell Lodge #165, Roswell, GA, a York Rite Mason, a founding member of Royal Arch Chapter #74, Roswell, GA and is a member of The Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice (APFSP) where he is currently working on his Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) certification.
Tony lives in Garden City with his wife, Charlene, their twin boys, Andrew and Mason and their vizsla mix, Ms. Scarlett.
He enjoys watching Georgia Bulldog's Football and Atlanta Brave's Baseball, kayaking, traveling, reading history and science fiction books, collecting watches, baseball cards and sports memorabilia.
Spencer Williams is a third generation Funeral Director and Embalmer, and is licensed in both Georgia and South Carolina, and is a Certified Crematory Operator. He is a native of Milledgeville, GA, and a 1995 Graduate of John Milledge Academy. Spencer is a 1999 Graduate of Gupton - Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta, GA, where he was Parliamentarian on the Student Council and a member of the Theta Chapter of Pi Sigma Eta, which is the National Academic Honor Fraternity for Funeral Directors. Spencer is the proud father of three boys, Spencer Brantley Williams, Caleb Alexander Williams, & Gabriel Calhoun Williams. A Georgia Bulldog through and through, He is a Master Mason, a Shriner, and a member of The Sons of Confederate Veterans. Spencer is a member of the International Conference of Post Mortem Reconstructive Surgery, as well as having completed the ICCFA University's School of Advanced Embalming Technique.
In the Spring of 2008, Spencer was appointed by the Georgia Secretary of State's Office and The Georgia State Board of Funeral Service to serve as a Subject Matter Expert. This designation of Subject Matter Expert is given as Spencer has worked with the State Board of Funeral Service in evaluating the Laws and Rules that govern Funeral Service in the State of Georgia and assisting in writing and implementing the new State Laws and Rules Examination for Funeral Service, which is a requirement for those who will receive Licensure as a Funeral Director and Embalmer in the State of Georgia. Spencer is honored to receive this designation.
Over the course of his career, Spencer has received, and still continues additional specialized training in Restorative Art and Post Mortem Reconstructive Surgery. This additional specialized training is something in which Spencer takes great pride. He sees this as one more way that he can help the families that call on him.
Judy has been full time with the Burroughs Family since 2009. She retired in 2017 and now works part time.
She lives in Murrells Inlet with her husband, Bill and they have two four-legged children, Max and Mugsy.
Rita is a native of Maryland and moved to the area in 2007 with her husband, Paul. They have two children, Rick and Leah and five grandchildren, Gabrielle, Dylan, Mason, Aubrey and Declynn. She is of the Catholic faith. Rita enjoys walking her dog on the beach and taking zumba and water aerobatics.
Tom works full time with Burroughs Funeral Home and Pet Cremation Services assisting the owners and directors in whatever capacity he is needed.
Cindy retired after 29 years of experience in the funeral industry and now works part time with Burroughs Funeral Home. A native of West Virginia, she moved to the area in 1984 with her husband, David and children, Dave and Kari. She is blessed with three grandchildren, CJ, Stella and Luke. She is a member of Low Country Community Church and is involved in many church and community activities. She loves to be with family, friends and travel.
Ken works with Burroughs Funeral Home part-time during visitations and funeral services.
